Guitar/Vocalist Rick "Blue" Steele is a Virginia boy who began singing and playing the Blues and Country music as a teenager. His music combines the Delta stylings of Robert Johnson and Son House with the grittier Chicago Blues of Muddy Waters and Albert King. Southern Rock influences and improvisational jams a la the Allman Brothers combine to make a blistering take on American Roots Music. Southbound Steel currently performs throughout the DMV area, including regular bookings at Maryland Live Casino. Rick Steele's musical lineage extends back to the legendary Robert Johnson. His mentor, national Blues recording artist Memphis Gold, was himself taught by Blues masters who played with Robert during the 1930s. Southbound Steel’s music honors that tradition, and is a unique continuation of American Roots Music into modern day.
